Hello there! I'm Alycia, owner and operator of The Pet Motel & Spa.

As a lifelong resident of Corinna, my roots run deep in this community, with both my family and my husband’s family having called this town home since the 1930s. Growing up in such a close-knit environment, I developed a strong sense of connection not only to the people here but also to the animals that have always been a big part of my life.

 

My journey into animal care began in 2014 when I started working with retrievers at a board and train kennel. There, I gained hands-on experience in animal and equipment care, working alongside professional dog trainers and participating in field trials and hunt tests throughout New England. This experience ignited a passion in me that led me to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in Veterinary Technology from UMA Bangor, where I honed my skills and deepened my knowledge of animal health.

 

After graduating, I worked in various veterinary settings, including a local Emergency Vet Clinic, a mixed large and small animal practice, and most recently, a small animal day practice at Brewer Veterinary Clinic. In 2021, I earned my license as a Veterinary Technician, allowing me to provide quality medical care to pets and educate their owners on maintaining their pets’ health and well-being.

 

In 2018, while I was still in Vet Tech school, I met my husband Andy. Our shared love for animals quickly became the foundation of our relationship. We’ve built a home filled with love and a lively mix of pets, including our chocolate Labrador Retriever Denali, Rottweiler/Husky mix Chief, Boston Terrier Birdie, two cats Freddy and Betty, and a 75-gallon African Cichlid aquarium. Our home is truly a sanctuary for animals, and we wouldn’t have it any other way!

 

In 2022, Andy and I were married, and this year, we welcomed our first child, a beautiful and happy baby girl named Avery Jay. You’ll often see Avery around the kennel, where she’s already showing signs of inheriting our love for animals.

 

The recent birth of our daughter and the opportunity to take over this family-owned facility in my beloved hometown inspired me to step away from Veterinary Medicine for the time being. Now, I’m pursuing my dream of owning and operating a boarding kennel where I can continue my commitment to animal care in a new and meaningful way. The fact that this facility has been in Andy’s family since 1992 makes this endeavor even more special.

Their safety, health, and happiness are my top priorities, and I take pride in delivering quality service to every pet and their owner. I am thrilled to share this journey with you and look forward to welcoming your furry family members to our little piece of Corinna!
